Grins and Giggles

Portraits

This Saturday, we took Caden over to Santa Rosa for his (slightly more than) 3-month portraits. He was very well-behaved and very photogenic. He even tolerated tummytime for a few pictures. What a cutie! Caden had a great weekend, in general. It was our first weekend in quite a while without any major outings or activities planned, and we all enjoyed spending time together at home. Caden was very smiley and "talkative" all weekend. He's expanding his vocal repertoire to include vowel-consonant combinations and squeals of delight, and his mommy is teaching him to blow raspberries. Provided he is in the right mood, Caden is beginning to imitate us, especially when we make funny sounds or stick our tongues out at him.

New Tent!

In preparation for our trip to the redwoods next weekend, we finally set up our new three-person tent in the backyard on Saturday. Caden especially enjoyed the patterns of light and shadows that the trees cast on the inside of the tent walls. We spread our sleeping pads and Caden's pack 'n' play mattress (which now doubles as his camping pad) in the tent to make sure that we'd all have a place to sleep. The tent fits the three of us quite well, and we're excited to use it for many family camping adventures.

Other Fun Stuff

Mommy set up a big experiment this past week, and Caden came in to work to help. While at the lab, he and Daddy went on a hike to look for an unusual plant, and Caden saw his first Pacific tree frog. He seemed quite intrigued by the bright green squirmy thing in Daddy's hand. On Sunday, we all went to the coast to check on Mom's experiment, then we went for another fun hike on the Sonoma Coast.
