On Friday evening, Caden and Dada drove down to Dana Point for a reception and boat cruise at the Ocean Institute. It was a work/fun trip associated with marine protected areas on the Orange County coast. There were lots of good things to eat, though Caden mostly ate carrots, hoping that they would enhance his vision and help him spot a whale. We didn't see any whales, but we ended up right in the middle of a huge pod of dolphins. Caden had staked out a prime spot on the bow, and it was neat to look down and watch the dolphins surfing the bow wake.
It was hot outside this past weekend, so we spent most of Saturday indoors. We ventured out to the farmers' market early, then cleaned the house until late afternoon, when Mama and Caden headed to the pool while Dada and Finn made pizza and set up the movie projector. We all went to a friend's 3rd birthday party on Sunday morning, and the boys - especially Finn - loved playing in the bounce house.
And yesterday evening, we headed down to Little Corona beach for a walk and picnic. Dada is prepping to set up some experiments there, so he (with Finn in the backpack) walked the beach with managers from the city while Mama and Caden played in the sand and water.

I find it ironic that on "hot" sunny days here we go out and play, and when it gets too hot there, you have to stay indoors, while we clean house on rainy, cool days. Of course, our "hot" is 30o less than yours.
And what fun to live there and be able to take warm boat rides and see dolphins and evening walks on the beach!!
