Baseball

Baseball season has started here in New England. Caden is playing in the "instructional", coach-pitch league. Here, you can see him hit a single on the big field - usually reserved for the older players - after the parade and opening ceremonies for the 2013 season here in Swampscott. Caden is a lefty, but initially tried to copy the right-handed batters. Finally, he and his coach figured it out. A big "thank you" to Nana and Boopa for all of the batting practice :).

Moomin Waterwheel

Caden and Dada have been reading the Moomin books by Tove Jansson. We're currently working our way through the third book, Moominpapa's Memoirs. Piano Recital

Last Wednesday was Caden's first piano recital. He performed two songs - "Alley Cat Choir" and "Big Dog Boogie" - splendidly. He has really enjoyed his piano teacher and lessons these past six months. We are so proud of him!

Here is a video of his performance. It's a bit quiet, so turn up the volume on your computer.

Science Fair

The annual science fair at Stanley School was on Monday evening, and Caden presented a project on the best way to build "spinners" - basically tops - out of LEGOs. Basic measurements included height, weight, and diameter, and Caden determined how those factors influenced how long a LEGO spinner would spin.

Scientist in training

Today, Mama needed to weigh some mussels for an experiment she is running. Dada was working in the yard, so Mama enlisted Caden as her official data recorder:
